DESCRIPTION
Fort Ticonderoga, located in upstate New York, is a pivotal historical site from the American Revolutionary War. With nearly 2000 acres of exquisite landscape located on Lake Champlain and overlooking the Green Mountains of Vermont, the site’s remarkable history covers the story of how the blood spilled to create an empire in the French & Indian War resulted in the struggle for liberty and America’s independence a generation later.
The fort serves as an educational resource that brings history to life through immersive programs and events. The Fort Ticonderoga Association seeks to enhance its interpretive programming with the Liberty Hill Encampment and Guns for Ticonderoga projects. These projects will provide new educational venues and resources to engage audiences with daily programs, special events, youth overnights, teacher education, and online learning.
The projects will include constructing an interpretive encampment area (Liberty Hill) and creating a premier interpretive artillery program (Guns for Ticonderoga). These initiatives will support immersive educational experiences and commemorate significant historical events.
