With the support of Americana Corner, CI will celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with a new immersive animal husbandry program, offering visitors a unique, hands-on exploration of life on a frontier farmstead.
Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association
The Mount Vernon Ladies' Association, the first national historic preservation organization in the United States, is the oldest women's patriotic society in the country. Its pioneering efforts in the field of preservation have served as a model for many. With the support of Americana Corner, Mount Vernon created its first on-site Revolutionary War encampment using period-appropriate reproduction tents and equipment to immerse visitors in the daily life of soldiers, military officers, and the civilian followers who traveled with the Army.
American Battlefield Trust
The American Battlefield Trust preserves America’s hallowed battlegrounds and shares our country’s extraordinary national story through the conflicts of the first century of the United States. TThis Americana Corner partnership will help the American Battlefield Trust expand its educational offerings about the American Revolution.
Friends of Washington Crossing Park
The Friends of Washington Crossing Park shares the powerful story of General George Washington’s daring crossing of the Delaware River on Christmas Night 1776 and interprets its ongoing impact on world history for both today’s citizens and future generations. The purpose of this Preserving America Partners project is to expand on what Washington Crossing Historic Park already offers and contextualize local sites into the larger story of the American Revolution – making historical education more fun, engaging, and accessible to locals and visitors across the country.
Fort Ligonier
Fort Ligonier, an 18th-century British fort located in Ligonier, Pennsylvania, preserves the history of the French & Indian War. This project aims to expand Fort Ligonier’s living history program by enhancing the visitor experience through regular, scheduled historical interpretations of day-to-day life at the fort, beyond battle reenactments. This includes authentic clothing, equipment, wages for interpreters, marketing, and professional craftsperson demonstrations.
Smithsonian National Museum of American History
Built in the summer of 1776 under the direction of Brigadier General Benedict Arnold and the Continental Congress, the Gunboat Philadelphia was among several ships to take part in a two-day battle against the British Navy off Valcour Island near the New York shore of Lake Champlain. This project will help ensure the long-term preservation of the Philadelphia — the American Revolution’s oldest surviving fighting vessel.
